Tektite is formed when Earth’s rocks are melted by the impact of a large meteor or asteroid and hurled up into our atmosphere. The rocks are partially re-melted as they fall back to the ground, cooling so quickly that they form glass. The aerodynamic shapes result from their rapidly cooled descent as they fall through the atmosphere!
